Mr. Puddle:  Yeah, whenever you use a noun with superlative, then is “article +adj-ste”  “der beste, die schnellste”

Mr. Puddle:  Use “am + adj-sten” only when there is no noun beside the adjective, in the examples above “Ich laufe am schnellsten unter meinen Freunden” the adjective is adverbial, it means that it indicates “how do I run? the fastest”.

Mr. Meowrr: Now it makes sense!

Comparative adjectives



 

 

➔ Change their forms by adding -er 

 

➔ Show the superiority or inferiority when comparing two objects: + als (than)

 

➔ One-syllable adjective mostly have umlaut change

a → ä

o → ö

u → ü

 

➔ Some have irregular forms

Superlative adjectives



 

➔ Show the highest level of superiority: am + adjective + sten

 

➔ Some adjective with -x, -z, -d, -t, -s,-ß endings have irregular forms and add -esten

 

➔ When used with nouns: the article + ste + noun

Positive adjectives

 

 

➔ Don’t change their forms
